Update from The Bluegrass State

I have had so much fun in Kentucky. My dad and I went to my hometown on Friday. It was really fun. Nothing has changed. It was like everything had been frozen in time for the last 9 years. We saw the old house and it looked great. I can't believe how little our street is. When I was a kid, I used to think it was the longest street in the world. Now, it seemed small. On Saturday, I left at 8:00am to visit one of my best friends, Andrea. We hung out all day. It was such a fun time. She is an amazing friend and I am really going to miss her. I met her boyfriend and he is great. I gave her my approval. She gets to go meet his family in New Jersey in a few weeks. I am really excited for her. We ran around town all day and laughed about old times.

Today my dad and I went to breakfast at an awesome restaurant that is always written up in Southern Living. We also went on a 2 hour walk this afternoon. We went all around downtown Louisville and to the river. They have a huge park and walking trails all down by the water. It's like town lake in Austin, but cooler. The weather was perfect.

I head back to the big city of Alpine tomorrow. I had such a good time these last few days, and I really don't want to leave. I have already planned my next trip for February. I can't wait.

Hope everyone had a great weekend. Talk with you soon!

A Fun Day in Kentucky

Today was my first day in Kentucky. My dad dropped me off at my new favorite store, Von Maur. Let me tell you, Nordstrom has nothing on this place. Dara S. had told me about it, and it was better than I could have ever imagined. I got some new clothes, shoes, and a purse. It was a successful morning. My dad took me to lunch at this really neat restaurant. They had fried pickles that were so yummy! We went to an amazing fabric store to find some fabric for a project that we are going to tackle on Sunday. It was 3 full floors of fabric! We went over to Indiana and went to Hobby Lobby and Kirklands. I found 2 more picture frames that I was looking for...Dara and Karina know what an ordeal I had trying to find them. Needless to say, I was so excited. My dad was such a trooper to go all over 2 different states for me.

Tomorrow we will be really busy. We are driving to the town where I was raised. I can't wait to see the house that I grew up in. If the people who bought it are in the yard, I am tempted to ask if I can come in and look around. We'll see how that goes.

Oh yeah, my sister is having a little boy!!! We are so excited. She is a little nervous because we are from a family of girls. It was just her and me growing up and we had a lot of girl cousins. She scheduled the c-section for December 4th. We will have a new baby at Christmas. I can't wait.

Hope everyone had a great day. I am ready for bed!

Lesson for the Day!

Today was a good day overall. I have a wonderful friend that I talked with a few times today. I was having a rough day at first but she really cheered me up and gave me a new outlook on some difficult issues I was dealing with. I learned a very important lesson today. It really doesn't matter how many friends you have. If you can have a friend that loves you no matter what and doesn't want to be your friend b/c of your family, the car you drive, or the material possessions you have, you should consider yourself lucky! You have to be able to lean on them no matter what. If they can't handle your friendship during the tough times, they really aren't your friend. I am very blessed to have a few friends in my life that fit into this category! Thank God for great friends!!!

Only 1 more day of work and then I am off to Kentucky! I am so excited. I will be visiting with my Dad and one of my best friends, Andrea. She and I have been friends since first grade. It would have been since kindergarten, but she was in the p.m. class and I was in the a.m. class. Our friendship has been through a lot and I just love her. We can go for a few weeks without talking and pick up right where we left off. She is loads of fun!

Also, my sister finds out what she is having tomorrow. I can't wait. I will be able to officially start shopping for the little one.

It's late and I have to get to bed. Hope everyone has a good evening and day tomorrow.

I have been tagged to write 10 random things about myself!

Here are 10 random things about myself:

1. I would LOVE to own an apartment one day in NYC for me and all my girlfriends to get away to anytime we wanted. It is my favorite city! If you've never been, you must go!

2. I ran my first marathon this year in Austin. I finished all 26.2 miles in 5 hours and 10 minutes. After doing that, I feel that I can accomplish anything if I put my mind to it!

3. Most people would think I was raised in Texas since I love big hair and lots of mascara, but I was actually raised in a small town in Kentucky.

4. I have developed a love for reading. Right now I have 4 books going...Anderson Cooper's memoir, a book called Shadow Boxing, Laura Bush's biography, and a new one called The Devil in the Junior League.

5. I think this whole having kids thing might not be such a bad idea. I am still not 100% sure. My question is are you ever 100% ready? Before I start something, I usually have to be 100% sure.

6. I want to learn to faux paint so bad!!!

7. I'm about to loose my big toenail from running. My running coach told me it would happen but I never thought it would happen to ME!

8. I love baking. I enjoy to cook, but I really love to bake. People always love baked goods.

9. I am horrible about returning phone calls. I am really trying to work on this.

10. Okay, this is huge. Only a few people know this about me...My eyeliner is tattooed permanently on my eyes!!! I have loved it. It hurt a little bit, but it was well worth it. I told my husband that I wanted eyeliner on when I crossed the finish line of the Austin Marathon. Isn't that so vain?!?!

Here are the people I tag...

Sara W.
Vida H.
Summer M.
Karina B. (don't you want a blog? This would be a perfect way to start.)

My First Blog!

I am so excited. This is my very first blog. I have been inspired by my friends (dara s., sara w.) to write about my life. I love reading other people's blogs and thought maybe someone would be interested in mine. Who knows? I guess I will see how many comments I get. Also, did you see the name of my blog? I thought that was kind of clever. I don't have much to say today...I am just so excited to have my very own blog. I feel really grown up now!
